The Great Palace Mosaic Museum was opened in 1953 in Istanbul, affiliated with the Museum of Archaeology. It was later affiliated with the Museum of Hagia Sophia in 1979. The mosaics of the Great Palace dated between 450 and 550 A.D.
The mosaics’ hunting scenes, scenes from everyday life and impressive decorative designs are of high qualitty workmanship. Instead of religious issues, the subjects of the mosaics are taken from everyday life and nature.
