Little Hagia Sophia was a church devoted SS.Sergius and Bacchus, two Roman soldiers, originally Syrian, martyred for choosing Christianity, before it was converted into a mosque. In its plans it looks like a miniature Hagia Sophia, so the church was called Little Hagia Sophia. It was converted into a mosque during the Beyazıt II period by Huseyin Aga. The mosque has undergone various repairs. The only decoration left from the Byzantine period is a tile plaque with the figure of a vine leaf and a bunch of grapes.
