Hagia Sophia is a evidence of the level that humanity can attain. The fact that such a perfect masterpiece was built as far as the 5th century has always astounded people.
Hagia Sophia, which has also been called “the eight wonder of the world” by East Roman Philon, is one of the most visited museums and most prominent monuments in the world in terms of art and the history of architecture.
The current Hagia Sophia is the third construction, done in a different architectural style, eventhough it occupies the same location as the previous two. After being used as a church for 916 years, it was converted into a mosque by the conquerer of Istanbul, Fatih Sultan Mehmed. It was converted into a museum in 1935 under the order of Ataturk and the decision of the council of ministers.
