The most important characteristic of the Fethiye Mosque is the fact that it is the only holy building in the world where Muslims and Christians worship under the same roof. It was commissioned by Mihail Glabas Tarkaniotes at the end of 13th century. When at the end of 16th century Murat III turned it into a mosque after conquering Georgia and Azerbaijan, it had been used a Patriarchate for approximately a century. In Works carried out in 1938, mosaics and frescos from the period it was a church were uncovered.
